|Brown Cow Awarded Mansfield Bar of the Year|
Staff at The Brown Cow, on Ratcliffe Gate, are celebrating after beating the competition to be crowned Mansfield’s best pub.
The Brown Cow has been voted the best in the Chad’s Pub of the Year 2014 competition.
Their beers are so popular they previously won two CAMRA awards, for Pub of the Season Autumn 2014 and The David Brett Award for best pub serving Mild on the Mild Trail 2014.
Part of the pub used to be the cottage home of poet, playwright and publisher Robert Dodsley (1701-1764).
Landlords Chris Johnson and Nicola Thompson said they were delighted with winning the competition,
Nicola said: “It’s fantastic, we had lots of competition, so we’re really pleased.”
When asked why the pub was so popular, she said: “It’s a nice pub, it’s what a traditional pub should be, we just do traditional ale which is what people seem to want.
Over the next year, the pub will host two beer festivals, one in May and one in October.
